The Application is Live
On Tuesday 7 May Lambeth confirmed that the planning application had gone live with a consultation period running until Tuesday 27 May (New date 6 June to coincide with Site Notice date) . Click the button below to submit your objection.
Initial Impression from a brief review of the developers’ submitted documents
The developer has made a point of linking the proposed height to tall buildings located some distance away - such as the Brandon Estate. In our view, this only reinforces the concern; this site is not part of a tall building cluster, and the comparison underscores how out of place the proposal is in its immediate context.
There is acknowledgement by the developer that at consultations, height was raised as an issue, however the developer has continued with their application regardless.
We have not identified any significant changes since the consultation information, so our summary objection pages on the website remain relevant.
Worryingly, the applicant's Heritage Planner has concluded that the tower would be 'moderately beneficial' to the Conservation Area townscape, and 'minor beneficial' to our Grade II Kennington Park. We find this conclusion surprising and unconvincing. If you agree, please support our campaign to appoint an independent heritage planner - we believe expert input will be key in challenging this view effectively. Donate to the Cause
